As we enter the home stretch to Velo-city Global 2012, cycling and cycling infrastructure are in the news in Vancouver. Whether the discussion is about the newly confirmed permanence of separated bike lanes, the commitment to a public bike share program, or the ongoing debate on a mandatory helmet law, cycling is making headlines.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Taking a step back from the often-polarizing bicycle vs. car debate, the Velo-city Global conference is about vision and possibility, as well as the current reality and experiences of cities around the world. Global experts will be meeting to tackle cycling related topics: some already in the news, some that will be, and perhaps some that should be.<\/p>\n

Spanning themes ranging from Leadership: The Politics of Change to Empowering People and Inclusivity, and from Increasing Cycling and Safety to How Cycling Achieves Community Aspirations and Addresses Global Problems, almost 200speakers will lead the discussion.<\/p>\n
