Increase in our province&#8217;s population has resulted in gaining six electoral districts.<\/p>\n<p>Great news for the West Vancouver ecologist and salmon stewards as the district council <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bclocalnews.com\/news\/162081025.html\" target=\"_blank\">officially allows West Vancouver Streamkeepers Society to build a young coho salmon rearing pond<\/a> next to McDonald Creek near Marine Drive and 19th Street.<\/p>\n<p>After heated discussions and <a href=\"http:\/\/thetyee.ca\/News\/2012\/07\/04\/Taxi-Savers\/\" target=\"_blank\">media attention<\/a>, TransLink has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.surreyleader.com\/news\/162113385.html \" target=\"_blank\">abandoned its plan<\/a> to phase out subsidized cab rides for elderly and disabled HandyDart clients, saying it failed to fully grasp the need for the TaxiSaver program.<\/p>\n<p>Increased demand from minor sports associations in Delta is driving the School District to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bclocalnews.com\/news\/162293346.html\" target=\"_blank\">propose building two, $1 million covered artificial turf fields<\/a>\u2014without using education dollars!<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A weekly roundup of noteworthy news in municipalities across B.C.
