No one knows how to do this better than Hanover <a href=\"http:\/\/gettysburg-sealcoating.com\/\">Sealcoating<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Example:&nbsp;88th Avenue and King George Boulevard is already&nbsp;one of the worst in the province.&nbsp; What happens to intersections like 108th and King George (below, <a href=\"https:\/\/maps.google.ca\/maps?q=King+George+and+108+Ave+Surrey+BC&amp;hl=en&amp;ll=49.199016,-122.845913&amp;spn=0.00551,0.007339&amp;sll=49.170397,-122.694454&amp;sspn=0.011027,0.014677&amp;t=h&amp;hnear=King+George+Blvd+%26+108+Ave,+Surrey,+Greater+Vancouver+Regional+District,+British+Columbia&amp;z=17\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">map here<\/a>) when drivers divert to the Pattullo Bridge&nbsp;to avoid the tolls?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/vancouver\/2012\/07\/23\/price-points-free-asphalt\/108-and-kgb\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-12511\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-12511\" title=\"108 and KGB\" src=\"http:\/\/spacing.ca\/network\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/108-and-KGB.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" srcset=\"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/vancouver\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/108-and-KGB.jpg 640w, https:\/\/spacing.ca\/vancouver\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/108-and-KGB-600x400.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>108th Avenue and King George Boulvard, on the way to Pattullo Bridge.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\">.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The problem is that there&#8217;s no other choice for&nbsp;drivers.&nbsp; If, for instance, they were able to park at Guildford and&nbsp;then take transit to Surrey City Centre on the&nbsp;light rail line proposed for 104th Avenue, easlily connecting to SkyTrain and other rapid-transit or BRT lines down King George and the Fraser Highway, then they could realistically consider making another choice and avoid the arterial grid.&nbsp; But there&#8217;s no realistic choice to make &#8211; and there&#8217;s not likely to be for years to come.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">So, billions of dollars later, they remain auto captive and still caught in congestion.&nbsp; Just not on the Port Mann Bridge and Highway 1.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">***<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em><strong>Gordon Price<\/strong> is the Director of The City Program at Simon Fraser University.
