Seems like B.C.\u2019s agricultural sector is suffering from the same effects as\u00a0residential real estate as a result of rising property values<\/a>. Never a good thing.<\/p>\n

Although Metro Vancouver staff recommended dropping its garbage tipping fee at by $2 next year, looks like the regional district board defeated the motion<\/a>, allowing the fee to\u00a0 will remain unchanged for 2013.<\/p>\n

The first of\u00a0 1,100\u00a0monopoles<\/a> for the Northwest Transmission Line megaproject have been raised near Terrace. Currently 75 are being erected in the Bob Quinn area, the terminus point for the 344km long transmission line which is to connect the Highway 37 North area with BC Hydro\u2019s provincial power grid.<\/p>\n

A preview of Gateway\u2019s South Surrey plans for a casino and entertainment facility<\/a> was given yesterday and according to Gateway Casinos and Entertainment community liaison Tanya Gabara, there will be a lot more to do than gaming.\u00a0 In addition to a 60,000 sq. ft. gaming floor, the complex is scheduled to include an 800-seat theatre, a convention and entertainment zone (at 27,000 sq. ft., it would be the largest facility of its kind in Surrey), a 200-room, four-star hotel, four restaurants and three lounges.<\/p>\n

The recent trip diary released by Metro Vancouver seems to have some people saying that the car remains king<\/a>, despite the aim of getting more folks on transit, cycling or walking. I prefer to focus on the fact that the latter increased….<\/p>\n

In New Westminster, city staff seems to be concerned about Plaza 88\u2019s plans for a large digital sign<\/a> to be located on a wall above Columbia Street facing the waterfront, stating that it will create light intrusion for Quayside condos. However, the area\u2019s residents\u2019 associations seems to be all for.<\/p>\n

Looks like TransLink will be charging motorists at all park-and-rides<\/a> under its control. So, the days of free parking in no-charge lots…farewell!<\/p>\n
