The neighbourhood is home to artists of all types, including renowned carvers, writers, sculptors, musicians, actors and more. In fact, more artists and people connected with the arts economy live in this community than any other place in Vancouver.<\/p>\n<p>The new Grandview-Woodland Community Plan is a policy document that will set out long-term directions for the neighbourhood. It covers a range of topics \u2013 and arts and culture will be a key part of this. As part of the planning process, we\u2019re looking for your help in crafting these directions.\u00a0 Your input will assist the City to support the neighbourhood\u2019s arts scene as effectively as possible.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->There will be two workshops to discuss these issues, as well as an on-line component that will be launched in January.\u00a0 The workshops are duplicate sessions, so if you\u2019d like to participate you only need to sign up for one. The events are free, but you need to register to attend. Please read this material before coming to the workshop.<\/p>\n<p>(NOTE: You can register for up to two spaces in the workshop \u2013 but you will need to add the name and contact details for both people when you do.)<\/p>\n<p><em>A Few More Workshop Details:<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Each workshop will start with a brief presentation on Arts &amp; Culture in Grandview-Woodland, as well an overview of neighbourhood planning work to date.\u00a0 The workshops will be structured \u2018world caf\u00e9\u2019 style so that participants can share their ideas on a number of topic areas.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve already heard a lot of ideas about \u2018what\u2019s needed\u2019 in the neighbourhood \u2013 so part of this workshop will be about building on this input, refining general ideas around neighbourhood arts and culture, and exploring possibilities for neighbourhood-based policy directions.<\/p>\n<p><em>On-line Component:<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">In addition to the two workshops, we\u2019ll also be creating an on-line forum to allow people to engage with the workshop questions.\u00a0 This forum will go live in mid-January \u2013 and we\u2019ll send you a separate email to let you know when this happens.\u00a0 If you can\u2019t make either of the workshop dates, or prefer to share your ideas from the comfort of your own home \u2013 then please consider logging-on to this aspect of the process.<\/p>\n<p>* * * * *<\/p>\n<p>Thank you for taking the time to read through this letter.
