It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas…..with the 23rd annual tree lighting happening in Abbotsford<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Excitement in the Regional Districts of Central Kootenay and Kootenay Boundary as Environment Minister Terry Lake announced that both will receive $15,750, and $10,500<\/a>, respectively, from the Provincial Wood Stove Exchange Program to encourage residents to replace their old wood stoves with cleaner burning models that will improve personal health and air quality.<\/p>\n

On a related note, the work on two important highway projects<\/a> through the East Kootenay – worth a combined $4.5 million – is now complete.<\/p>\n

The student of Sullivan Heights Secondary School in Surrey received a wonderful surprise this week when they a number of bright red coho salmon<\/a> were seen spawning right behind the school in rain-swollen Sullivan Creek.<\/p>\n

Looks like\u00a0The Port Alberni Port Authority is planning on having companies use its waterfront infrastructure as a hub for their fleet of fishing boats<\/a>. Names of companies have yet to be released.<\/p>\n

\nIn Victoria, city council has just approved the application for Abstract Developments to replace its headquarters at the corner of Oak Bay Avenue and Foul Bay Road with a four-storey mixed development building – containing 22 residential units and 5,800 square feet of commercial space, including retail and office.
