If Darwin is granted the density they are requesting, the project would include a district-dedicated 3.2-acre park.<\/p>\n<p>[Terrace] CITY COUNCIL has endorsed a call by the Town of Smithers for the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bclocalnews.com\/news\/182681191.html\">creation of a Hwy16 shuttle bus service<\/a><\/strong> to minimize risks to vulnerable travelers. The idea for a shuttle bus is a recommendation sprung from the Highway of Tears Symposium Report, which was further endorsed by B.C. municipalities at the Union of British Columbia Municipalities Convention this fall.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bclocalnews.com\/news\/182397381.html\">Glacier\/Howser independent power project review process has been terminated<\/a><\/strong> according to a letter sent by the BC Environmental Assessment Office (EAO) last week.\u00a0The Montreal-based AXOR planned to build a 98 megawatt hydro project diverting four creeks into a 16-km underground pipe near Kaslo. The power project met with a great deal of opposition from local residents concerned about its impact.<\/p>\n<p>Another oil spill \u2013 presumed to be from a leaking home heating tank \u2013 has caused yet another environmental disaster, as <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bclocalnews.com\/news\/183087481.html\">a large sheen was discovered Saturday on Blenkinsop Creek<\/a>.<\/strong>\u00a0The source is believed to be an underground tank on a property on Cedar Hill Cross Road near Blenkinsop Road.
