Penticton St. @Cottage Hospice Dining Room.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><!--more-->#47 Saturday Dec 15<\/strong>: Bloedel Conservatory 3pm presentation, Queen Elizabeth Park, Little Mountain. Free entry to attendees until 4pm. All are welcome!<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Named for its donor, forestry executive and philanthropist Prentice Bloedel, the Bloedel Conservatory occupies the highest point in Vancouver at the top of Queen Elizabeth Park. The triodetic-domed conservatory was opened on December 6, 1969 to display a tropical landscape of plant and bird species with the declared purpose of fostering a better appreciation and understanding of the world of plants. Along with its surrounding gardens, arboretum, fountain and plaza &#8211; highlighted by the Henry Moore sculpture \u201cKnife Edge &#8211; Two Piece\u201d &#8211; the conservatory and its environs form a cultural landscape of education and inspiration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>#48 Sunday Dec 16<\/strong>: Burrard View Park 4pm presentation. Meet in the dining room at 650 North Penticton St. Cottage Hospice followed by a community walk to the Trinity Street Christmas Light Festival (5-9pm), refreshments. All are welcome!<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Burrard View Park was the site of a Children\u2019s Aid home built in 1906 in remote Hastings Townsite. It became the Wall Street Orphanage in the 1920s; the remaining orphanage building, \u201cBabies\u2019 Cottage,\u201d is now Cottage Hospice and is managed by the St. James Community Service Society.
