WHAT’S THIS ABOUT?<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Just a few of the hundred or more skateboarders who were\u00a0rolling towards Brockton Point on the Stanley Park Seawall (map here<\/a>) to join in the 125th birthday party of the City of Vancouver a month ago.\u00a0 (Question:\u00a0what’s the collective?\u00a0 A flip of skaters?\u00a0\u00a0 A slam?\u00a0 A kick?)<\/p>\n

Their sense of joy is obvious:\u00a0youth, movement and comaraderie.<\/p>\n

No idea what this group was or where they were coming from.\u00a0 But they’re clearly organized ’cause\u00a0they’re all wearing helments.\u00a0 And\u00a0check the T-shirts.\u00a0\u00a0The one in black\u00a0has\u00a0the National Film Board logo.\u00a0\u00a0That’s hip these days?\u00a0 And the ones in white – what are they about?<\/p>\n

Second question: How did they get back?\u00a0 \u00a0The seawall is one way, after all, and presumably, if you’re\u00a0self-propelled, you’re supposed to continue around the park to get back where you started.\u00a0\u00a0 Which I’m sure they didn’t do.<\/p>\n

The Park Board has never really\u00a0figured out how to handle bikes\u00a0and boards, and\u00a0to date\u00a0hasn’t indicated that it’s much of a priority.<\/p>\n
