A new shelter in Whalley, expanded drop-in services, a better mix of housing types, and more outreach services are just some of the recommendations being made in a new city plan to address homelessness<\/a> in Surrey<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Kamloops<\/strong> City hall is hoping to keep its social media momentum going as public meetings on the budget continue.\u00a0Last week’s meeting on parks, recreation and cultural services was live-streamed with an online chat room and discussed on Twitter <\/a>with the hashtag\u00a0#kamloopsbudget<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Residents concerned with proposed amendments to a project planned for the former White Rock<\/strong> Muffler<\/a> site will soon have a chance to voice those concerns.\u00a0But council\u2019s move to authorize a public hearing on the issue was not welcomed by area residents who had been heartened by a\u00a0land-use committee decision<\/a>\u00a0earlier this month to recommend rejecting the amendment as written.<\/p>\n

With City budget discussions fast approaching, Courtenay<\/strong> staff recommend a focus on underground infrastructure upgrades <\/a>in the coming years.\u00a0Council is expected to start budget talks later this month, and during this week’s committee of the whole meeting, staff updated council on the general status of city infrastructure and strategic improvements.<\/p>\n

A proposed new two-storey,\u00a0 heritage-style office complex for the western entrance to Fort Langley<\/strong> was rejected Monday after a majority of Township councillors complained the exterior didn\u2019t look heritage enough<\/a>.<\/p>\n
