Wednesday to receive a Federation of Canadian Municipalities&#8217; (FCM) Sustainable Communities Award. The town won the award for its plans regarding the village neighbourhood, trails, waterfront master plan, electric vehicle charging stations and its youth and family retention\/attraction strategy.<\/p>\n<p>Nine objectives outlined by the [City of <strong>Abbotsford<\/strong>] mayor&#8217;s <a title=\"Objectives laid out for city's prosperity\" href=\"http:\/\/www.abbynews.com\/news\/191226981.html\">task force on economic prosperity <\/a>were presented at a public consultation Wednesday evening.\u00a0The consultation was held to give members of the community a chance to ask questions about the objectives, which include supporting agriculture, attracting new businesses and encouraging innovation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Oak Bay<\/strong> municipal council has taken a major step forward in its <a title=\"Oak Bay OCP gets rolling\" href=\"http:\/\/www.oakbaynews.com\/news\/191104961.html\">Official Community Plan process<\/a> after council selected the project\u2019s consultant.\u00a0The municipality\u2019s OCP was first created in the mid-\u201980s, and while it has been updated numerous times, there has not been a major review since it was conceived.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Township of Langley<\/strong> needs to build much more rental and affordable housing, according to the first ever <a title=\"Langley Township backs first ever housing action plan\" href=\"http:\/\/www.aldergrovestar.com\/news\/191066051.html\">housing action plan developed for the community<\/a>.\u00a0The study estimates 50,000 more dwellings will need to be built to accommodate that growth.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>***<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: small;\">The featured image was selected from the Spacing Vancouver Flickr pool.
