The provincial government was right to choose SkyTrain technology to build the Evergreen Line<\/a> to Coquitlam<\/strong>, but it did so with incomplete information, according to B.C.’s Auditor General.\u00a0John Doyle’s latest\u00a0audit<\/a>\u00a0concludes SkyTrain and not light rail was the best option because of its greater capacity at similar cost, its easy integration with the existing rapid transit system and because it’s well understood by transit users.<\/p>\n

Nanaimo<\/strong> residents have an appetite for a municipal food strategy<\/a>. Earlier this month, more than 65 people attended a workshop to begin the discussion on a local food strategy that includes food security, developing local food systems, encouraging partnerships in food distribution and ensuring access to nutritious food for all of Nanaimo’s citizens.<\/p>\n

Richmond<\/strong> is the latest city in Metro Vancouver to push forward with cultural centre expansions<\/a> \u2014 and this one is a \u201cdestination museum\u201d with a $59-million price tag.\u00a0A proposal to move the Richmond Museum from its current home in the Richmond Cultural Centre was laid out in a staff report presented to the parks, recreation and culture committee meeting Tuesday. It will be presented to councillors at the next council meeting, on April 8.<\/p>\n

Travel times and warm shelters were key topics raised during a BC Transit open house designed to solicit public feedback<\/a> [in Fort St. John<\/strong>].\u00a0Increasing ridership is key, because that will generate revenue for the City and fall in line with environmental initiatives, said Todd Dupuis, senior regional transit manager.<\/p>\n
