His public service included serving as a Social Credit MLA for White Rock-South Surrey, minister of tourism and as a Delta alderman.<\/p>\n<p>Setting a table for developers to serve growth to <strong>North Cowichan<\/strong>&#8216;s growth-hungry communities was the mayor&#8217;s metaphor about <a title=\"Urban renewal the goal of new municipal tax-holiday bylaw\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cowichannewsleader.com\/news\/209177871.html\">council&#8217;s hot tax-holiday meal<\/a>.\u00a0Now pass that revitalization-program bylaw, then shake in some new businesses \u2014 hopefully green ones, Jon Lefebure added.\u00a0&#8220;It&#8217;s our tax bylaw and revitalization plan working together to spur development of our core areas.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Some Johnsons Landing residents [near <strong>Nelson<\/strong>] who saw their community devastated by last year\u2019s massive landslide are <a title=\"\u2018Nobody\u2019s going to buy land they can\u2019t occupy,' says Johnsons Landing resident\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nelsonstar.com\/news\/209585271.html\">looking for options to dispose of their properties<\/a>.\u00a0A report released last week\u00a0shows the risk of future landslide activity remains high in the area and some homes may never be safe to occupy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A weekly roundup of noteworthy news in municipalities across B.C. &nbsp;
