{"id":22242,"date":"2013-07-26T14:00:32","date_gmt":"2013-07-26T21:00:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spacing.ca\/vancouver\/?p=22242"},"modified":"2013-07-26T12:02:45","modified_gmt":"2013-07-26T19:02:45","slug":"neighbourhood-watch-89","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spacing.ca\/vancouver\/2013\/07\/26\/neighbourhood-watch-89\/","title":{"rendered":"Neighbourhood Watch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"NeighbourhoodWatch_logo\" src=\"http:\/\/spacing.ca\/vancouver\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/NeighbourhoodWatch_logo.gif\" width=\"600\" height=\"72\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>A weekly roundup of noteworthy news in municipalities across B.C.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Corporation of <strong>Delta<\/strong> is looking into idle farms that have gone to fallow either because of foreign ownership or inactive farming, but local <a title=\"Delta farmers challenge notion of idle farmland\" href=\"http:\/\/www.southdeltaleader.com\/news\/216986431.html\">Delta farmers say the issue may be overblown<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Construction in [the metro Vancouver] region is going to get a lot easier as <a title=\"Paving the way for easier construction\" href=\"http:\/\/www.surreyleader.com\/business\/217022981.html\">six municipalities work together in streamlining processes<\/a>.\u00a0A business licence in construction that was purchased in <strong>Surrey<\/strong>, will now be valid in <strong>Burnaby<\/strong>, <strong>Delta<\/strong>, <strong>New Westminster<\/strong>, <strong>Richmond<\/strong>, and\u00a0 <strong>Vancouver<\/strong>.\u00a0 The two-year pilot begins Oct 1, 2013.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pitt Meadows<\/strong> is going ahead with a <a title=\"Signs for True North\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mapleridgenews.com\/news\/216651091.html\">new roadside signage program to make easier for locals and tourists to find agriculture-related destinations<\/a>.\u00a0The city has launched The True North Fraser signage program,\u00a0 a regional project partnering with <strong>Maple Ridge<\/strong> and <strong>Mission<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>About 250 people visited <strong>Abbotsford<\/strong> Community Services (ACS) on Thursday evening for a public open house on the organization&#8217;s\u00a0<a title=\"ACS holds open house on proposed housing for homeless\" href=\"http:\/\/www.abbynews.com\/news\/217125231.html\">proposal to build housing for homeless men\u00a0in Abbotsford&#8217;s downtown<\/a>.\u00a0The proposed facility would provide housing for 20 men, for up to two years.<\/p>\n<p>The couple walks into a new <strong>South Burnaby<\/strong> eatery and asks the manager if they serve free-range eggs.\u00a0The manager says no.\u00a0&#8220;If I bring them over would you cook them?&#8221; the woman asks.\u00a0Thus was the start of one of the <a title=\"Urban farm digs partnerships\" href=\"http:\/\/www.burnabynewsleader.com\/news\/216954461.html\">numerous partnerships established by Urban Digs Farm<\/a> since taking over an abandoned farm on Byrne Road last year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A weekly roundup of noteworthy news in municipalities across B.C.
