Geoff Meggs said welcoming the Olympics back to Vancouver would not be &#8220;like putting fresh sheets on the guest bed.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The City of <strong>Port Alberni<\/strong>\u2019s website has <a title=\"Alberni escapes municipal computer hack\" href=\"http:\/\/www.albernivalleynews.com\/news\/218938491.html\">escaped a municipal software hacking<\/a> that hit the District of <strong>Maple Ridge<\/strong>, City of <strong>Abbotsford<\/strong>, <strong>Oak Bay<\/strong>, City of <strong>Victoria<\/strong> and others.\u00a0City manager of information services Jeff Pelech said the issue was first discovered elsewhere in early July in land utilties software that many municipalities in B.C. use.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Wayne Wright is bringing a <strong>New Westminster<\/strong> <a title=\"TransLink may consider Pattullo Bridge proposal\" href=\"http:\/\/www.royalcityrecord.com\/TransLink+consider+Pattullo+Bridge+proposal\/8756242\/story.html#ixzz2bVSEj3mr\">resident&#8217;s idea to repair the Pattullo Bridge<\/a> to TransLink for consideration.\u00a0\u00a0Justin Ball has a proposal for a way to repair the Pattullo Bridge and avoid the cost of building a new one.\u00a0Ball worked for a company that used fabric formwork technology in England about 15 years ago and says he has seen it successfully implemented in Europe and the Middle East.<\/p>\n<p>Two projects located in\u00a0<strong>Surrey<\/strong>\u00a0have received\u00a0<a title=\"Surrey projects win awards of excellence\" href=\"http:\/\/www.surreyleader.com\/business\/218914311.html\">Silver Awards of Excellence from the Vancouver Regional Construction Association<\/a>\u00a0(VRCA).\u00a0These projects are:\u00a0Surrey Service Centre (Award: Electrical Contractor up to $2 Million) and\u00a0RCMP \u201cE\u201d Division Headquarters Relocation (Award: President\u2019s Trade Award)<\/p>\n<p>Nearly a year after winning a crucial official community plan amendment, one of the largest proposed residential developments in the <strong>City of North Vancouver<\/strong> in recent years will be coming before the public and council this fall.\u00a0Concert Properties&#8217; and Knightsbridge Properties&#8217; proposed Harbourside redevelopment came to City of North Vancouver council July 29 for an update on the\u00a0substantial geotechnical work the proponents must do in order to <a title=\"Rising sea levels an expensive reality\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nsnews.com\/business\/Rising+levels+expensive+reality\/8768337\/story.html\">build a series of highrises at sea level<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A weekly roundup of noteworthy news in municipalities across B.C.
