In seeking ways to stretch every dollar further, East Vancouverites find themselves the subject of a four-year experiment by way of a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vancourier.com\/news\/Vancouver+looks+financial+ecological+bounce+with+rubber+sidewalk\/5290834\/story.html\" target=\"_blank\">rubber sidewalk<\/a> fashioned entirely out of recycled tires.<\/li>\n<li>The City of Abbotsford refuses to be treated like refuse. That city is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abbotsfordtimes.com\/technology\/City+condemns+garbage+burning\/5293331\/story.html\" target=\"_blank\">likely to officially file its opposition<\/a> to Metro Vancouver\u2019s proposal to build a garbage incinerator as part of its regional waste management plan on the advice of city staff.<\/li>\n<li>Though the District of Lake Country near Kelowna is far from broke, its Mayor concedes the region is struggling with an<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bclocalnews.com\/news\/128328863.html\" target=\"_blank\"> infrastructure deficit<\/a>. Thus a visit to Victoria to ask the province to lobby Ottawa for long term funding was in order.<\/li>\n<li>At long last, a once crime addled housing complex in Maple Ridge is being demolished to make way for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrtimes.com\/townhomes+sight\/5295818\/story.html\" target=\"_blank\">new townhomes<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>In West Vancouver, newly installed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nsnews.com\/news\/shelters+squeeze+foot+traffic\/5299873\/story.html\" target=\"_blank\">bus shelters<\/a> are the cause of resident consternation because they\u2019re alleged to be blocking the sidewalk and posing a potential threat to pedestrians.<\/li>\n<li>If you reside in the East Richmond neighbourhood of Hamilton, your trek to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.richmond-news.com\/Richmond+community+left+without+grocery+store+after+Pricesmart+shuts\/5296744\/story.html\" target=\"_blank\">closest grocery store<\/a> just got longer.
