With full funding for the parklet proper, the community public space initiative is headed toward fabrication early next year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><i><b>Mais ce n&#8217;est pas tout pour la chocolaterie!<\/b><\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><i>To bring an even better public space to the neighbourhood, shop owner Anne-Genevi\u00e8ve Poitras needs your help to Kickstart extra features. As bicycle ridership on Main Street continues to grow, parklet designers at PWL Partnership Landscape Architects are collaborating with Vancouver Cycle Chic to include a bike bar. Take a break, have a snack, and read a book without leaving the seat of your bike! With three awards up their sleeves and recognitions in over 40 publications across the country, the chocolaterie has contributed to the growth of Main Street\u2019s diversity through participation in Main Street Car Free Days, ShopMain.ca, and events such as Roam Main and The Drift.<\/div>\n<p>Our parklet team consists of skilled designers, landscapers, and master carpenters. With over 30 years of experience in landscape architecture, PWL Partnership Landscape Architects has provided design services pro bono. 100% revenue of the fabrication of the parklet by Tradeworks will be invested back into training and support programs for at-risk youth with multiple barriers to employment.<\/p>\n<p>In fall, the chocolaterie and PWL co-hosted a PARK(ing) Day installation that celebrated the mural painted by a local resident, leaving many neighbours and passersby excited to hear that this small public space would soon be permanent. This year\u2019s Car Free Day announced the modest corner as \u201cthe French quarter,\u201d inspiring the parklet&#8217;s name.<\/p>\n<p>What began as an opportunity to build a new public space by a small family of chocolate lovers, designers, and artists has evolved into fostering community ties.
