In a space devoid of cell phone or data connections, the team hopes to create personal ones instead.<\/p>\n<p>This unique installation is the first piece created through HCMA\u2019s Artist in Residence (AIR) Program. To achieve their desired effect, the team has completely enclosed the caf\u00e9 in mesh that shields electromagnetic signals while producing a distinct visual form. The Faraday Caf\u00e9 reminds us of a time before ubiquitous wireless coverage, and also proposes an alternative future relationship to digital technology.<\/p>\n<p>Located in <strong>The Chinatown Experiment<\/strong> at <em>434 Columbia Street<\/em>, the<em> Faraday Caf\u00e9<\/em> will be serving a rotation of artisanal coffees by donation, as well as hosting a variety of events including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Morning meditation sessions<\/li>\n<li>Afternoon DJ sets<\/li>\n<li>Dinner and dessert parties, and<\/li>\n<li>Evening storytelling gatherings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>WHO: Open to the public<br \/>\nWHAT: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hcma.ca\">HCMA<\/a>\u2019s very first artist installation, a pop-up caf\u00e9 that repels wireless signals<br \/>\nWHEN: July 2-16 from 10:00AM-6:00PM, closed Sundays<br \/>\nWHERE: <a href=\"http:\/\/chinatownexperiment.com\/blog\/\">The Chinatown Experiment<\/a> at 434 Columbia Street<\/p>\n<p>Images added to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dropbox.com\/sh\/f9otray5y5res4z\/AADX9Y6YWVyDu7htE2xsuAWka\">Dropbox file<\/a> throughout the duration of the project.
