The private school&#8217;s high-tech, eco-designed facility includes for social sciences and the arts.<\/p>\n<p>The heated debate continues with Lower Mainland cities <a href=\"http:\/\/www.surreyleader.com\/news\/151198205.html\" target=\"_blank\">backing a contentious proposal to block Indian Reserve residents from voting in civic elections<\/a>. The main concern lies with the fact that an influx of non-aboriginal residents will move onto reserves, where some First Nations are building large market housing developments.<\/p>\n<p>Kelowna regional district directors were not impressed at the most recent public meeting as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bclocalnews.com\/news\/151485455.html\" target=\"_blank\">three greyhound buses full of Kelowna Mountain development community<\/a> supporters filled the hearing space, foyer and the steps outside to reject the new Official Community Plan.<\/p>\n<p>Across the Fraser, Delta&#8217;s mayor and council are considering <a href=\"http:\/\/www.surreyleader.com\/news\/151399375.html\" target=\"_blank\">whether or not to give themselves a pay raise<\/a> to match their salaries with the average of four other Lower Mainland municipalities.<\/p>\n<p>North Saanich Councillors are aren&#8217;t in complete agreement about the move to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bclocalnews.com\/news\/151719545.html\" target=\"_blank\">allow higher density with the goal of more affordable housing<\/a>. Interestingly, the push to increase density is coming from local businesses who are finding it difficult to find and secure skilled labour.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bclocalnews.com\/news\/150687105.html\" target=\"_blank\">historic Colwood Dairy building<\/a> &#8211; one of Greater Victoria&#8217;s oldest buildings &#8211; is being moved as a part a new two building, 100-unit project planned for Goldstream Avenue. To the approval of many preservationists,\u00a0 150-year-old building will be restored and relocated to the front of the property, where it will be visible from the road and accessible to the public.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chilliwacktimes.com\/life\/Yarrow+Ecovillage+happy+with+Kinder+surprise\/6639804\/story.html#ixzz1vEbSWkdy\" target=\"_blank\">Adding another complaint to the list for the proposed twinning of Kinder Morgan&#8217;s oil pipeline<\/a>, residents of the Yarrow Ecovillage are upset with the fact that it is proposed to run right underneath the certified organic farm on the property.<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A weekly roundup of noteworthy news in municipalities across B.C.
