HALIFAX – The entirely volunteer-run Out of the Cold emergency winter shelter, housed at St. Matthew’s United Church, will host a series of training sessions for new volunteers starting tomorrow, Jan 13 through Feb 6. This is the shelter’s second season, filling a critical void left by the federal and provincial governments.
There are a diversity of volunteer and support options. Two identical sessions are offered for each training course, so potential volunteers need only attend one of each. Registration is required. To register, and for more information on the training series and volunteer application process, contact Capp Larson at halifaxwintershelter@gmail.com or 225-1142.
