Would you wear this on your head? At first glance, the LumaHelm, pictured above may not be your cup of tea. The helmet’s lights draw attention while many of today’s fashionable cyclists choose a more understated look. But wait until you hear what it does. “The prototype is an off-the-shelf helmet that’s been augmented—at once hacked and adorned—with several LED strips, such that the array of 104 multicolored lights is mapped evenly onto the hemispherical surface.” Deliberate head motions activate lights on the left and right hemispheres, acting like left and right turn signals and brakes.
