Squished into the crack between St-Jean United Church and a pizzeria, this watchmaker’s workshop fits into a space no wider than a bicycle. According to the sign, it is the oldest watchmaker in Montreal, founded in 1906.
Photo taken Feb 12th on Ste-Catherine East, between rue de Bullion and rue Berger.

It’s really trivial, but I’ve always wondered why there were such cracks between buildings in cities like Toronto and Montréal (I haven’t seen that many other cities in North America). I’ve never seen these in Europe (where I’m from). Is it for safety issues?
I’ve walked by there so many times and never noticed that little shop.
