I love this personalized “green box” which has been spray-painted black and decorated with Tattoo parlour stickers.

I heard this week (on the radio?) that with commodity prices as low as they are, the City isn’t able to sell its recycling and it’s ending up in the landfill.
Rather than continue to flagrantly perpetuate this bit of urban mythology, I was wondering if anyone could confirm or deny?
I was listening to an interview with someone who owns a recycling plant somewhere in Montreal. He said there’s still a market for paper and metal but with the price of oil being so low, virgin plastic is currently cheaper than recycled plastic so it’s just sitting in storage waiting for the market to rebound. I would imagine, however, that if the price of oil stays low for two long, much of that plastic will end up in the landfill, if it isn’t already.
