I’ve seen this at parc & laurier and it’s a complete DISGRACE. Advertising has no right to totally take over the public space like this. You can be sure I don’t buy their crap at the store when I see it.
You could say this is bad for the political reasons sid mentioned above but I still think it is much better than the common sight in Montreal: Bus shelters covered with tags. Seriously, kids with too much money and time on their hands are taking over the streets with their lack of talent. It is time to do something about it. Maybe this is not the best idea but SOMETHING has to be done…
Still, the faux grafitti – the equivalent of an investment banker trying to rap – is particularly nauseating. (Some idiot creative director got a bonus, I’m sure.)
This crosses the line from being merely an ad in public space to a public space being nearly completely engulfed by an ad. Cityscapes already tend to be defined by private capital at the macro scale, of buildings…
There are much better organic yogurts from in province and nearby in Canada (Stonyfield is from the US), like the one that comes in deposit-required glass bottles: Pinehedge Farms.
Can you blame the STM to make some money someway somehow?
Fares alone do not cover all of their operation costs.
Yes I can blame the STM when they uglify the city in this manner. I’m fine with their regular ads but this crosses the line.
I won’t be buying Stonyfield just as I won’t deal with Koodo after what they did to McGill metro last winter.
