  1. It’s a real travesty none of these places have converted their roofs to terraces. I’m sure the cost to reinforce the structure to withstand the extra weight is high but they would surely get a return on their investment in a couple summers.

  2. I see at least one, possibly two places with rooftop terraces in this photo.

  3. So, is your keyboard broken Alanah? This isn’t a photo-only blog, you are supposed to be forming our opinions with your educated commentary. Or at least that was how I thought Spacing work.

  4. Alf, I’m not sure if i’m reading your tone wrong but i’m assuming you’re being serious…
You may have noticed that we have a regular photo-du-jour series. I like to try and post images of familiar places that all montrealers will collectively identify with, as well as images that are surprising, that make us stop and wonder about the parts of the city we have yet to discover.

I’m not *supposed* to be forming anyone’s opinion – you guys can do that for yourselves.

  5. Every time I’m on Mount Royal overlooking the city and it’s millions of flat, unused rooftops, I think the exact same thing as Jack. I imagine a Montreal where every roof top is covered in green… It makes for pleasant thoughts, standing overlooking this beautiful city of ours.

(Alanah, I couldn’t help but smile @ “you can do that for yourselves”.. must be something in the air, people were a wee snarky today :)).
