If there is an overall lesson to be learned from these Montage du jours it is this: Montréal has consistently made HORRIBLE urban planning decisions, and in the process has destroyed an incredible amount of cultural heritage, and beauty, and replaced it with rubbish. This montage du jour surely epitomizes this legacy as well as any other. So sad.
I would say horrible urban planning decisions until the 80s. There’s been a lot of good decisions and also reversal of previous bad ones since.
Amazingly, the store lasted until 1978. I remember visiting this place way back when.
