  1. Great building. Lots of deferred maintenance though. Needs major work inside. Would be a good candidate for a conversion into apartments.

  2. One of those amazing Montreal buildings I have seen a zillion times but have never been inside, except for the Van Houte’s that used to be on the side as I recall.

  3. A Montreal landmark in a city chock full of wonderful old buildings!

In 1962? a runaway Concreters Ready Mix Mack dump truck ( Truck T63 ) came surging down Cote de Neiges at rush hour, crossing Sherbrooke on the Red and wound up along the side of the Medical Arts Building, having collected a varied selection of occupied automobiles beneath it’s front bumper and Bull Dog-topped radiator.

    No serious injuries.

  4. A Pharmaprix is soon to open on the ground floor, as you can tell by the new signage. The clinic at the corner of Guy and St. Catherine (across from Concordia’s ContEd building) is also relocating here, and the building now sports a (temporary) green banner indicating the move.

  5. NOW a Pharmaprix is opening? I lived 2 steps away for four years, and moved out last year! D’OH!

  6. I once saw Mordechai Richler sipping a coffee at that Van Houtte…
