  1. Now I see the aspects of Park Avenue,in New York, that our av du Parc was meant to resemble! Thanks for presenting this breathtaking contrast.

  2. I’ve always thought avenue du Parc lacked trees (except, of course, as one passes by Mt-Royal), both north and south of the park.

And of course, bring back the tram.

  3. So pretty it was. That said, there is nothing stopping us (the city) from rehabbing this corridor. Widen sidewalks, plant trees, allow developers to build some interesting architecture. We have to turn the page an re-invent this section of Park. Can can be charming again.

  4. build….on the empty lots! I don’t want to get my head chewed off.

  5. no, please no, not a half-billion dollar tramway…. the 80 bus is a fine bus with good service.

  6. The 80 is utterly oversaturated. Public transport costs money. If you want to get rid of the frigging cars, you have to provide an alternative.

  7. I wish we could plant some trees…. we really need them, not only here, but in many other places around this area.

  8. I’ve always thought something interesting could be done with the parking lot at the corner of Park and Milton. It’s a nice sunny space at a busy intersection. Maybe a seasonal fruit/vegetable market like the one at the corner of Côte-des-Neiges and Jean-Brillant?

  9. That’s a good idea, Christopher. That area needs some kind of focus. There are some good buildings around there, both old and newer, but the lack of trees and of an outdoor focal point makes it seem like a place just to pass through. Could something more interesting also be done with the setback outside Place du Parc (the little underground shopping centre)? And of course now that échangeur has come down at last, some serious interventions are needed in the rather empty space.

I’m sure the local Centre d’écologie urbaine might have some good ideas.

  10. I used to work in the Tour Transat a few months ago… What a surprise to see the way it were a decade from now !
Thank you for the view. ;-p
