“This park is a place for kids to get cut on rusty metal”
The words are scratched into one of the metal sculptures erected by artist Glenn Lemesurier in the abandoned lot on Van Horne and St-Urbain. It seems to be a new addition since Christopher Dewolf snapped this image one year ago.
I wonder whether it is intended as an accusation or a celebration of the rusty metal edges?

Some of my best childhood memories involved adventures with rusty metal.
Metallllllllllllllllllll!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They won’t cut themselves unless they’re trying to vandalize Glen’s work.
Another uncritical celebration of the anglicisation of Montréal’s cultural landscape.
Oh, it’s clearly not a celebration. My fear is that some protesting parent will give the city a rationale for tearing down this wonderful little DIY sculpture park.
Shawn, I’m not sure. If you were really worried about the dangers of rusty metal, would you express this concern by etching it into rusty metal?
An accusatory celebration ….
…Tetanus shots anyone !
