  1. This is the perfect location to build more skyscrapers!

  2. Special interests groups with lots of influence and little public support killed the skyscraper developer in Montreal.

  3. Montreal is anti-highrise. Forget about skyscrapers.

  4. I think that giant parking lot is all that is left of a beautiful old neighborhood which was bulldozed precisely for some big tower project. Turned out that the construction deal was shady and it never happened. Cost the mayor at the time his post.

Wish I could remember the name of that ‘hood but it was before my time…

  5. Does anyone else find it completely insane that ground-covering asphalt parking lots exist in downtown Montreal? What a waste of space! Any mayoral candidate who vowed to remove all off street surface parking, and partially replace it with under-building lots would get my vote! So much useful land being used for a pretty lame purpose!

  6. The photo shows the Lafontaine House, one of the most historic sites in the country. Every paper in the city and every political party and persuasion except the conservatives have said that it should be rehabilitated as a national historic site. All this since the nineteen eighties. It is classified for all the help that that affords. It would cost pittance to buy its property rights as a part of the condo development that must be eventually built here. Old Man Labonté seems not to have wanted such to happen. Mayor Tremblay should have his feet held to the fire to promote it and to see that it is done. The rest of the exeutive committee too. Join me in lobbying them for action. And thank you for the photo. If anyone wants more information, post that you want it, and I will post an article, drawings and figures on the subject.
