Increased metro, bus service tomorrow

Metro trains will come more often on the orange, green and blue lines starting tomorrow. The headway between trains will be reduced by about two minutes throughout the day, meaning that trains coming every 7 or 8 minutes will now come every 5 or 6 minutes.

Service on some important bus lines, including the 24 Sherbrooke, 18 Beaubien and 121 SauvĂ©, will also be increased. If you ask me, though, none of these buses come often enough, especially in the evening. Even after the service improvements, the westbound 24 still comes every 30 minutes after 7pm. Let’s hope that there will be even more frequency in the summer and fall.

You can check the new schedules at the STM’s website.

  1. I gather from a previous article that there has been no net increase in service: extra buses during the day are compensated by less on weekends. It is really disgusting how Union Montréal make political capital. They pretend to innovate and in fact preserve the status quo.
I agree about the 24. After 1900 it is infrequent to the point of being unusable and always packed. Is it not possible to have public transport which is demand-responsive? Is there a management or does it simply turn over on automatic pilot,
