Thursday November 25th: 2nd meeting of Montreal Ouvert
The open data movement is picking up steam in Montréal. Momentum is growing but it must be sustained. Montréal Ouvert invites you to its 2nd public meeting next Thursday (Nov. 25th), from 6-8pm, at L’Espace coopératif de travail (ECTO). Come find out what’s been keeping the Montreal Ouvert team busy and learn about what other stakeholders are up to. We’ll also have time to network and discuss our next steps. So, if you’re working on open data issues, reflecting about open data, or simply want to learn more about it, you should be there. Bring a friend or colleague!

Sunday, November 28th: Imagining Montreal: A City in Fiction
Imagining Montreal brings together a wealth of new writing about Montreal. Excerpts will be read from 24 novels and short story collections published since 2000.
Ranging from Heather O’Neill’s poignant debut novel Lullabies for Little Criminals to new work by Gail Scott, David Homel, El…ise Moser and many others, these slices of new fiction have been woven together to tell their own story: a city beset by extreme weather, traumatized by but ultimately triumphing over politics. Montreal in the new millennium has reinvented itself, with help from the city’s writers.
Authors include: Claire Holden Rothman, Nairne Holtz, Edward O. Phillips, Matthew Fox, Marianne Ackerman, J.R. Carpenter, Elise Moser, Ami Sands Brodoff, Ann Charney, Zoe Whittall, Peter Dubé, Rawi Hage, Claude Lalumière, Heather O’Neill, Louis Rastelli, Gina Roitman, Linda Leith, Gail Scott, Neil Smith, Lance Blomgren, Glen Rotchin, Ibi Kaslik, John Brooke and Doug Harris. Texts assembled by Marianne Ackerman & Megan Stewart.
