With The Rideau Canal Skateway having opened at 2pm on New Year’s Eve Day, yesterday was the first chance to skate on the Canal, on the first day of the year, since January 1st, 2005. Thanks to the frigid temperatures Ottawa has been facing for the past few weeks, the 44th season for the Skateway has gotten off to an early, and chilly, start.
