Spacing is sponsoring a presentation on Toronto-area photoblogs this coming Sunday at the Yorkdale Apple Store. Some of the city’s most shutter-happy photobloggers will be talking about their work, inspirations, methodology, and technical know-how. Spacing‘s Creative Director Matthew Blackett will talk about SpacingPhotos, the Wire’s sister daily feature. All other info can be found here.
Spacing has been an enthusiastic supporter of the city’s photoblogging community for a few years now. When we started planning the magazine in 2002 it was imperative for us to use strong visual imagery. Our search took us to the web and we found a small but thriving photoblog scene. What excited us was that the majority of images being captured were in public spaces. Our endeavours are complimentary and we feel fortunate to have curated PUBLICity (March 2005), Canada’s first photoblog gallery exhibit. We have been lucky to showcase in print the work of Sam Javanrouh, Matt O’Sullivan, Gayla Trail, Davin Risk, Adam Krawesky, Rannie Turingan, Jonathan Day-Reiner, Miles Storey, Kevin Steele, and now a whole bunch of other talented photographers at SpacingPhotos.
