As part of their Environment Week, the University of Toronto is hosting   [A]lternative [R] [T]ransportation: Art on the Move, an art exhibit and party celebrating sustainable transportation:

Transportation isn’t just about getting from A to B. Especially if we are talking about sustainable transportation. There is a certain art to it, a certain aesthetic pleasure that such healthy transportation affords, and a certain art to the very objects that take us from one place to the other.

[A]lternative [R] Transportation celebrates the art of transportation that doesn’t just consume energy, but generates energy, healthy energy that inspires and creates, that celebrates a much larger understanding of transportation: transporting oneself to work, to fitness, to health, to peace and to art.

The artists of [A]lternative [R] [T]ransportation are varied, some reimagine transportation, others transport us to the enjoyment that such healthy transportation sustains. The show will feature a large variety of mixed media, from large scale  sculpture to photography to a video installation.

WHEN:  Friday, March 10th, 2006 , 7:30 p.m. onwards  (art exhibit is on until March 17th)

WHERE:  Sylvesters Café, 16 Bancroft Ave., above the Graduate Student Union Pub
