The above photo is from San Francisco — a good example of recognizing the importance of bike facilities. Spacing public art editor Leah Sandals posted back in May about similar bike parking spots in Montreal.
Chicago has recently released its own ambitious Bike 2015 Plan. The plan has similar goals and strategies similar to Toronto’s own Bike Network Plan (Chicago and Toronto have undertaken a working relationship over the last few years, so that may have something to do with it). Let’s hope for the sake of Windy City residents that their cycling infrastructure project actually develops, and not slowly unravel.

Interesting to note that Chicago already has 100 miles (161 kms) of designated, on-street bike lanes…
According to the City of Toronto’s website; There are about 50 kilometres of bicycle lanes on city streets.
Chicago’s mayor also said his goal is for cycling to become a viable transportation alternative.
