On Sunday between 1:30-4:30pm [murmur] will be wandering along with the Human River following old Garrison Creek, long buried but still mighty (we assume). We’ll be there to record stories along the way — the Toronto Public Space Committee has put out a specific call for storytellers to come along for the walk and we hope to capture those, and whatever anybody else would like to say too. Stories about the creek itself, or things that happened on top of it, long after it was buried. Did you live at a house along the way? Did you have pre-marital sex in Bickford Park? Did you live under the Bathurst Street Bridge? Do you remember something that was there?

The Toronto Public Space Committee is holding the second annual Human River on Sunday October the 15th and we are looking for people to tell us the stories of Garrison Creek. Narratives can range from personal experiences and histories, to urban architecture and ancient geography. We are looking for tales to evoke through performances as we trace the winding path of the Garrison through bustling neighbourhoods and quiet green spaces in downtown Toronto. There are also opportunities to submit stories to our partners: Lost Rivers and [murmur] — recording these histories and legends of the creek for future retellings.

Even if you don’t have a story or memory, come out and take a psychogeographic walk through the city on Sunday afternoon. Information on a weekend full of Human River events can be found here.
