  1. RE: Peterborough

What a scam. A rookie conservative MP from Peterborough, who won his riding by a mere 2,500 votes (a Liberal riding since ’93), influences regional transit policy with one line that’ll cost more than $150 million that doesn’t contribute to the regional network.

Expected to have 900 passengers? You’ve got to be kidding me. Send buses for less than half the cost and call it a day.

Totally a “screw you” to Toronto, Ontario, Metrolinx, GO Transit and even York and Peel regions.

  2. I have to laugh at the article’s title: “High speed rail”. This is not high speed rail at all, it will take 2 hours on a slow single-track line. The Conservatives ought to build a high-speed rail line between Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal. Since the shortest route between Toronto and Ottawa happens to pass right by Peterborough, this would provide excellent service between Toronto and Peterborough.

But that would be TRUE patronage.
