  1. The Ossington moratorium was not lifted, it expired. Under the by-law it could only last one year, with a single possibility of a one-year extension.

    I live only a block away from Ossington. Looks like the freeze on new eateries didn’t kill the avenue after all.

  2. It actually makes sense to have short moratoriums on stuff like this. It gives an up-and-coming neighbourhood time to diversify.

    This way, when 75% of these bars close down within a few years, there will still be a community there. It’s true genius, really.
