  1. Although G20 is still in the news, it rather pales compared to the Vancouver 2011 Stanley Cup riots. I mean, wow. What does this mean for the future of large public events in public spaces? For the need for ever more surveillance cameras? For show of force from police? Very disturbing stuff.

  2. Maybe this is a bit pessimistic of me, but the “Mayor’s Bike Plan” seems to mainly include removing existing bike lanes, halting the development of any bike infrastructure on Bloor, and then putting a handful of separated lanes on streets that don’t actually have any bicycle traffic generators (i.e. Richmond).

Adam Giambrone called it “one step forward, two steps back” but that seems like more praise than it deserves to me.

  3. Breaking news that Councillor Wong-Tam, with the help of the City Manager and the Manager of Children’s Services, has helped Progress Child Care get all of its City funding up front for the month of July.

Wonder why local councillor Norm Kelly was MIA. Local residents better be questioning their support for him and the Mayor.

  4. Speaking of Giambrone, I found it characteristically ballsy of him to criticise the Ford/Stintz regime for taking Presto in exchange for provincial money, when the Union/Queens Park/Kipling etc. Presto machines ended up there by exactly the same route under his mandate.
