In case you’ve been living under a rock (or in the steely comfort of a backyard bomb shelter) for the last few years, you’ve probably heard a rumour or two about the end of the world. Spacing has even been fanning the flames of armageddon with this summer’s disaster issue!
The artists and designers at Toronto adventure laboratory The Mission Business are hedging their bets on a biotechnological apocalypse scenario, with a transmedia science-fiction prototype called ZED.TO. It’s an immersive end-of-the-world origin story told across multiple Toronto public art events and social media, a window into the near-future that tells a scary story.
Starting this week at the 2012 Toronto Fringe Festival, [ZED.TO] ByoLogyc: Where You Become New audiences will experience the rise and fall of a fictional biotech corporation called ByoLogyc by joining their ranks as a “VIP” – a member of ByoLogyc’s groundbreaking new Versatile Intern Program (YOU can sign up today).
This summer, ByoLogyc’s visionary CEO Chet Getram will be sharing his thoughts on the evolution of innovation on the Spacing Toronto blog. Stay tuned for visionary insights into the future of lifestyle technology, and a transformation of the city of Toronto.
