The dogs have their own beach in the Port Lands at Cherry Beach. Some dogs swim, others don’t care for the water so much. Cherry Beach has received an extensive makeover in recent years (though it continues to have the biggest potholes in Toronto in its parking lot), and this edge of the industrial Port Lands has both wild, nearly natural territory, and more tamed parts like the new soccer fields or the beach and dog area above. The Port Lands was the subject of my Toronto Star column this past Friday, looking at how we can perhaps live with a little of its industrial parts as the whole area is redeveloped in coming decades. We may yet need some of this industrial infrastructure again.
