I think that some of the mainstream big media are happy to jump on any point if discussion that sends confusion out to the public.
Murray is not backing away from The Big Move any more than Queen’s Park has suddenly developed flexibility in transit planning.
What Murray and co. are trying to do is find a way to sell a suite of ‘transportation revenue tools’ throughout the province of Ontario in a way that is separate from the provincial budget.
That way the entire province can be made to pay and will supposedly see infrastructure benefits, rather than just the GTHA paying for benefits seen only in the GTHA.
Remember, the liberals need to sell the concept of higher taxes throughout the province if they want to have any hope of winning the next election.
