Looking North from the waterfront between York and Bay, 1920 – 2009
How many buildings can you name from the 1920 photo?
Before and After will appear each Friday showcasing mixed Then and Nows by local artist and Toronto history enthusiast Alden Cudanin.

I prefer the 1920’s skyline over what’s there now.
Notice how a pier’s freight shed is so
close
to
the Harbour Commission’s building
The scale is way off here. And those condos are built on land excavated from the subway that extended the shoreline well past where it was in 1920.
If I was Chief Overlord Of Toronto (TM) I would dump the Spadina Extension and Eglinton LRT fill into the lake so we could reclaim the waterfront which is now condofront.
