  1. I cannot register for some reason. I have tried on Safari and Firefox broswers. Any thoughts?

  4. The buildings that are most deserving of Pug awards in this city weren’t even nominated. By this I mean the thousands of subdivision houses out in the 905, big box malls, blank-walled warehouses, faux-Victorian infill townhomes and basically 90% of the North American built-form which is a pox on any landscape.

  5. Just click on VOTE on the right side, it will give you a menu where you enter your email and that’s the registration. It was easy for me on a Mac in Firefox….

    They should at least be nominated for trying to match a photo of a 1890 Brooklyn brownstone with a rendering of their 2007 army barracks.

    Where’s this thing going up? Just east of the train tracks? Just wondering.

    Oh, and Varacalli sure deserves an award for yet another website with mystery-meat navigation. Alas, that’s something they share with the Pugly people (and the reason why I can’t be arsed to vote in their award).

  9. 350 Wallace?

    My mother grew up at 356 Wallace, which is on the north side of the street. Across the street was a Glidden Paints Plant, and further down, by the rail bridge is the site of another old factory. So is this going in where Glidden was?

    (Remember SNEW – South, north, east, west side of street – Odd, Even, Odd, Even).

  11. Its actually 351 Wallace. Glidden was on both sides of Wallace and the Wallace Station lofts were a glur factory that made the adhesive for Canada Post.

    The main Glidden site across the street at 370 Wallace is under a one year bio remediation process and has been sold to a developer. Look for the development to have a road through the middle, that will connect with the road in the middle of 351 Wallace.

  12. I thought it was going to be a community swimming pool based on the large lake of water that seems to have sat forever at 351 Wallace…:)
    Joking aside, I hope that water will be drained soon. With the heatwave we’re having it’ll be skeeter city.

  13. Re my last entry…I always get the numbering mixed up so in case I confused anyone, it’s the site that’s right next to the tracks on the north side of Wallace.

    Congratulations on your PUG award nomination for worst residential architecture in Toronto. I hope you’re embarrassed by it – lord knows I’m embarrassed living near “BeBloor” . It reminds me of a senior’s residence a la 1979. Is that the reason why it’s not highlighted on the portfolio page of your website? You can tell me – I know you’re embarrassed too.

    Thanks for improving my neighborhood, NOT. Hope you have a speech planned when you take first prize.

  15. Varacalli is the architect that came up with that horrid design for the 80-storey tower that’s going to go up at Yonge & Bloor.

    The one being designed by Bazis International, the Khasakstani builder whose only projects outside of Khasakstan are in Toronto.
