Unlike the sentiment of the famous final line in Chinatown, Toronto is going to be able to remember the original location of Chinatown a bit easier now with the installation of new Heritage Toronto plaques in Nathan Phillips Square. Ceremony tomorrow:

The MC will be Tam Goossen, VP, Urban Alliance on Race Relations & Community Social Planning Council of Toronto.

  1. That’s odd. I clicked on the “Chinatown” link and it took me to Wikipedia “Chinatown (film)”.

    Where was Toronto’s first Chinatown?

  2. Nathan Phillips Square, where the plaques are being installed, was the site of the 1st Chinatown. It was cleared away to make room for new city hall and NPS.

    I linked to the film in case a reader hadn’t seen it and wouldn’t get the reference.
