  1. Two days ago mayor Miller actually said (in council) Toronto was the leading city on earth in combating climate change.

    This might come as a surprise to anyone who has visited central and northern Europe and seen for themselves how far ahead many European countries are in creating a more sustainable society and ‘greening’ their urban environments.

    I’m used to hearing this kind of crazy talk from former mayor Lastman, but not Miller 🙂

    the impression is that roadways are nothing but means to get from one venue to another and that nothing of interest can exist on the roadway. There is also the impression pedestrians and cyclists are responsible for impairing motorists ability to get from point a to point b and this may justify acts of road rage against these entities.

    If Toronto is to encourage non-motorist traffic itmust do something about anti HPV policing.

    are chilling. “Often they are jaywalking, crossing against the light or just being on the road when they shouldn’t,” he told CTV.ca, noting that clothing selection can also be a factor in pedestrian safety. “People that get hit are often dressed inconspicuously, wearing black.”

    Wearing dark clothing in a crosswalk in winter is an offense justifying death? What happened to “not driving with due care” or “exceding safe speed” or “not looking where you are going”?

  3. I’m always surprised by those who say they are environmentalists yet smoke,Isn’t that a bit of a stretch when the whole idea of being an environmentalist is to eliminate those very polutants?

    So the story of a smoking lounge in the sky amazes me.Now I understand the addiction and the reasons of individuals who have seen better times smoking.However to plant a green roof and spend millions to reinforce the shelters roof to maintain this smoke pad I find interesting.Should the homeless be “out of sight,out of mind”?The neighbors insist that they not have butt strewn streets from the shelters patrons.However all this planning and commitee approvals have delayed what should have been important,that is shelter the homeless.The delay is intolerable.There is no excuse and the protesters who stormed council tried to make a point that will go unheard and die in a commitee room just like the reduction in council idea.
