The city-simulation that is the Shops at Don Mills is one of those controversial public-private places in the city that appear to function as the rest of the city does, but is wholly-owned by a private entity, in this case Cadillac-Fairview. On a late Sunday afternoon earlier this month the “town square” was filled with people doing what they might do in any other square in the city. More bars and cafes have opened now so there was life inside and outside, and it looked, because everything is so new and clean, a bit like the kind of architectural renderings mentioned here last week.
