• In last week’s Tree Tuesday Bronwyn Chester examines the many uses of the Amur cork tree, “the cork tree with lemon scent” that grows in Montreal’s Parc La Fontaine, as well as on Mount Royal.
• Spacing Montreal looks back at one of the city’s most influential mayors, Jean Drapeau ( 1954-57 and 1960-86) in an interesting post about his achievements, faults and contested legacy.
• Montrealers cheer as the iconic Guaranteed Pure Milk bottle is revealed after it was saved from destruction and restored. The bottle, a 10-meter tall steel water tank shaped like a quart of milk, sits atop the old Guaranteed Pure Milk dairy plant built in the 1930s.
