I know this isn’t strictly a TTC/Transit City news headline, but wow, a Vancouver streetcar!
http://www.cbc.ca/canada/british-columbia/story/2010/01/21/bc-vancouver-olympic-street-car-line.html
I had no idea. Sure, it’s only during the Olympics, and Bombardier managed to increase their logo size by 400%, but I’ll take it. Anything to get streetcars back in the positive frame and away from images of #$!$!#@-ed up construction projects.
Well: it’s a totally grade separated “streetcar”…. Sort of takes the “street” part out.
Mayor Miller should be ashamed of his continued stance in the Heaps affair.
Re: January pedestrian deaths a statistical hiccup: mathematicians – National Post
While this may sound heartless as we are talking about human lives, this is probably the most reasonable explanation of what happened recently. It would have had some positive influences if it gets us to take a serious look at how our city environment is designed and its implication on pedestrians’ safety. Unfortunately it seems to have led to exactly the wrong jerk-reaction: fine the jay-walkers!
Wonder if any police are not car drivers… may explain their knee jerk reaction to blame the pedestrians.
